Action Picks

David Ayer strands Special Forces officer James Belmont and his combat dog Odin deep in the Alaskan wild after a harrowing plane crash, and every scene is a fight against the elements. Brad Pitt leads a lean survival thriller that runs on grit and high stakes, and it lands at 7.5 on IMDb. The scale of that wilderness alone earns the big screen.

Andrew Garfield leads a peasant rebellion through war and plague in 14th-century England, and Paul Greengrass brings his kinetic eye to the chaos of commoners rising against the crown. Expect momentum, high stakes, and a desperate fight where it is rise or die, all in English on the big screen. Screenings around the city are sparse this week, so plan ahead if you want to catch it.
